PRODUCTIONS OF LIGHTWEIGHT SUBSTRATES BY USING VIRGIN POLYSTYRENE BEADS

It is a lightweight cementitious mix composed of lightweight aggregate (polystyrene and synthetic-based foam), cement and a specific admixture for foaming-colloidal action. This combination allows the screed to show high insulating properties and a remarkable lightness (400 to 600 kg/m3).

 

 

It is generally used to compensate for unevenness between floors and for light infills; it finds its ideal application as a support substrate for the laying of underfloor heating systems.

 

 

Polystyrene substrates - or cellular cement lightweight substrates - are generally used in the realisation of insulating screeds for foundations of civil and industrial floorings, as well as heat-insulating substrates for interiors laid under continuous or floating screeds.

 

This particular compound is achieved starting from the use of sand, cement and polystyrene. The latter allows the insulation of attics and the realization of lightweight infills.

PRODUCTIONS OF LIGHTWEIGHT SUBSTRATES BY USING EXPANDED CLAY

Our company produces expanded clay substrates for roofing, infills, lightweight layers and insulation layers, by using cementitious compounds and expanded clay with different sizes (also crushed, dried, structural and terracotta).

 

Expanded clay is an insulator which does not deteriorate over time. One of its most interesting applications concerns the realisation of permanent thermal insulation layers, thanks to its low value of thermal conductivity λ. Expanded clay substrates by COLIBRI do not contain nor release free silica, fibrous substances or other harmful materials even in case of fire and - like all the products of our company - is an ecological and natural product.

 

In addition, the intervention by automated mobile vehicles on site will allow you to have high and constant quality and productivity.

Each vehicle has a control panel from which the mix design proportions are electronically programmed as function of the type of lightweight screed to be produced, thus checking all stages of processing.

 

With regard to the type of lightweight screed needed to be produced, insulating components will be mixed with a proper admixture depending on the choice of the former (polystyrene or expanded clay).

Therefore, a number of actual advantages are to be considered:

 

  • No space on site occupied by silos, materials (sand bags and/or cement pallets) etc

  • No wastage

  • No electricity consumption on site

  • No need for using the crane of the site

  • Maximum safety because the equipment is protected, closed and controlled by an onboard computer and remote control system

  • Tracking of the intervention thanks to GPS and saving mixing data on a database
